Advice on Cages for Macaws
Finding the right cage for your Macaw Parrot is quite important, as this will be it’s home for a long time. Following is some basic information about Macaws and choosing the correct cage for its new home!
Cages for Macaws
The most important item to consider in choosing a cage for a Macaw is the interior size of the cage. It needs a medium to large size cage to live in, at a minimum 75cm wide x 50cm long x 75cm high. The cage should be larger if you don’t take it out and exercise it often – when in doubt, a larger cage is better for the Macaw than a smaller one. There should be space to have a couple of perches at different levels to allow your bird to comfortably move between them and exercise. A removable bottom tray is preferable for cleaning.
