Cages for Cockatiels
Cockatiels are active and playful birds, and need a medium to large size cage to live in, at a minimum 50cm wide x 50cm long x 65cm high. For safety reasons, the bar spacing should be no more than 19mm. There should be space to have a couple of perches at different levels to allow your bird to comfortably move between them and exercise. A removable bottom tray is preferable for cleaning.

About Cockatiels
Cockatiels are among the most popular pet birds, and are in the parrot family. Smaller than African Greys or Amazons, they are easier to train than larger parrots. They are quite good at whistling and can be taught to whistle tunes, and while are capable of mimicking speech are usually difficult to understand.
Cockatiels normally have a lifespan of 15-20 years and are regarded as gentle and docile birds and often like to be petted and held. They are playful and active, and typically not as loud as other parrots.
Pairs of Cockatiels go well together, although if they are kept in pairs they will not bond as well with their owner, and tend to bond to each other more. A single Cockatiel is fine, provided you have time to interact with your bird daily.
Cockatiels may be permitted to roam freely around your home, assuming the wings are clipped and the room is safe: ceiling fans, stoves, chimney’s are not safe for your bird. Cockatiels may peacefully nap on your shoulder if you are stationary for a long period of time.
