Advice on Cages for Budgies
Finding the right cage for your Budgie is quite important, as this will be it’s home for the next 7 – 9 years. Following is some basic information about Budgies (or Parakeets) and choosing the correct cage for its new home!
Cages for Budgies
Budgies are active and playful birds, and need a small to medium size cage to live in, at a minimum 45cm wide x 45cm long x 65cm high, although they like a little larger to move around in. For safety reasons, the bar spacing should be no more than 13-15mm, depending on the size of your bird. There should be space to have a couple of perches at different levels to allow your bird to comfortably move between them and exercise. A removable bottom tray is preferable for cleaning.

About Budgies
Budgies are relatively small, but very active and energetic parrots. They are relatively easily tamed, as well as bred. Tame Budgies can be taught to speak, whistle tunes, and play with people. While both males and females can learn words and to mimic noises, males generally have better skills in this area. Females in particular love to chew on anything they can find in their cage or their surroundings. Budgies are quite known for having individual personalities between individual birds, as they develop favorite toys, music they like, and how they like to be handled.
